Halal is defined as what is permitted for Muslims to eat. Haram is defined as what is not permitted to eat. (These terms can also refer to permitted and forbidden actions.)
Halal meat is that which is hand slaughtered with the name of Allah whilst the animal is alive. HCA permits light stunning (stun to stun, where the animal can recover) and requires all animals to be hand slaughtered.
Muslims are extremely strict on what they eat and Halal food must be guaranteed as 100% Halal. HCA works with clients to ensure that this is indeed the case and that the entire supply chain is checked and verified.
The Halal market is a global one, with one-quarter of the world consumers being Muslims, it is not a market to be ignored. It is estimated that the Halal market will increase year upon year up to 25% in the coming decades.
Halal is increasingly standing for food that is traceable and pure, and integrity in these areas are essential ingredients in modern products.
Muslim Countries are always strengthening their Halal standards and HCA has some of the highest and robust standards in this field.
